The Nikki Bonsai garden visit on 18 November 2012 went on exactly as planned. About 30 members of the Kerala Bonsai Association took part in the Bonsai garden visit. Barring 8 familiar faces, the rest were all new members with enthusiasm and eagerness writ on their faces, and for them, this visit was a basic introduction to the art of Bonsai. The Interactive demonstration primarily focused on these three aspects :
- They were shown potential bonsai raw material,
- How to identify them
- Explore the possibilities of styling.
The plants used for this demonstration were Casuarina and two species of the Ficus family. They were shown 3 kinds of styling and wiring.
Please go through the entire slideshow as D Ravindran‘s demonstrations clearly explain the “before, during and after” of wiring a Casuarina Bonsai, and the leaf and shoot pruning of a Ficus Bonsai.
We will keep you updated on the next Nikki Bonsai Garden Visit and Interactive demo through these columns.
Thank you all for making it to the Nursery.
